SANTA MONICA — LAFC looks to be building up its already standout defensive line. The LA team announced Wednesday, May 30, that Quillan Roberts inked his commitment to play for the new MLS expansion team as a supplement player.
Roberts, 23, trained at Toronto FC’s academy before signing on with the club in 2012. He was named League1 Ontario’s Goalkeeper of the Year before heading to play with USL’s Wilmington Hammerheads. The recruit has appeal ing 17 matches with Hammerhead and 24 in two seasons with Toronto FC II. He’s played nationally for Canda as well, recording three appearances during the 2011 U-17 FIFA World Cup.
He is also the only keeper who scored in the final stages of a FIFa tournament, scoring the equalizer in the Canada and England match for a 2-2 draw.
